We've got a double-header
today; “Two Two, Yes Two Case Reviews In One”. Rosewill is a large vendor of PC
accessories, with one of their biggest categories being cases. In the hot seat
today are two of Rosewill's cases, the R6A34-BK, and the R6AS5-BK. We bought these cases ourselves for our test lab, and they
turned out to be nothing short of spectacular. We found it only appropriate to do a review. Read on.
Computer enthusiasts have been drilling holes, adding fans, and
painting cases for quite some time. In fact, we here at Fastsilicon.com
were hacking away at our boxes way back in 1995. It wasn't until very
recently, however, that some case manufacturers started shipping
"pre-modded" cases. With such cases, the manufacturer installs side
windows, fan holes, and other custom features into their stock-standard
case designs. Still other cases are designed with a modded look in mind
from the get-go. Companies like Xoxide.com, Voyeurmods.com and
Zxmods.com sell such factory pre-modded cases in addition to their own
in-house modified cases.
Today’s victim in our testing lab is the all new Xoxide Z40 Insight case. The
Z40 Insight is custom modified by Xoxide’s factory partner and sports
some interesting features. The first thing you’ll notice is the rather
basic design of the case. The Z40 Insight is a standard steel mid-tower
ATX case that has been given a slight make over. Xoxide.com sells the
Z40 Insight for only $42.99 USD.
The topic of this review is the X300 Premod case by Xoxide.com. This is
a great case for anyone, the hardcore computer enthusiast, or the
beginner. It has great looks, great airflow, and a free cold cathode
light. But, just like everything else it has its down sides. This
review will expose both the good and the bad.
