The Z40 Insight supports a total of four 80mm fans. Unfortunately no fans are included with the case. For $7.99 USD extra, Xoxide.com will include four standard case fans. The positioning of the intake fans is very good; they will provide great cooling for your hard drive(s).
It’s always important to keep your hard drive(s) cool! I would recommend at least having one intake fan. The two outtake fans will help keep the air circulation going and insure that all warm air is removed from the case. Overall the Z40 Insight has nice cooling potential. This case would look great with a top intake fan of some sort. The Z40 Insight supports 5.25¨ x 4 external, 3.5¨ x 2 external, and 3.5¨ x 5 internal drives. The case has a total of seven 3.5” bays. Two of the bays are external and the other five are internal. There is no drive rail system for the drives so standard screws are required. As you can see, this case would be perfect for a raid setup because so many 3.5¨” drives are supported. The front bezel must be removed in order to remove the 5.25” and 3.5” bay covers. The bezel can be easily removed by slightly pulling forward on it. The bay covers are secured to the case by screws on each side. You can also only install the front intake fans when the bezel is removed. The I/O panel included is standard. If you’re installing a motherboard with a proprietary I/O configuration then you can easily unscrew this I/O panel and install the one that came with your motherboard.
