We covered the AVN launch of this new IPTV product, FyreTV, back in January , when it garnered as much press as other devices launched next door at CES during the same week. Now that this product is finally in beta testing, we have been able to obtain FyreTV's hardware, and are here today to give you a bit of a glimpse at IPTV's future. Granted, this one revolves specifically around pornographic video content, but if you make the effort to set aside whatever your individual thoughts on the subject matter might be (assuming they are bad), you can see that this new service is perhaps a template or model for what may be our digital future when it comes to video content.

Like it or not, individual desire for this sort of material has been a catalyst for the commercial success of visual media throughout the ages whether we're talking about paintings, photography, moving pictures, or video. In that sense, the pornographic industry has quite often been a pioneer in pushing the boundaries of commercial viability for visual entertainment. After all, personal desires are what drive most human behavior.

Having said that, there are two nuts to crack here. Specifically these are content popularity and execution. The first issue, content popularity, is the easiest here. If you happen to like pornographic entertainment you will be interested in this product and service. If not you won't be. It is really that cut and dry with something like this. Execution however is a bit more elusive to measure. As members of the FyreTV beta test, it is our implied responsibility to carefully examine the products execution and give feedback to FyreTV. As a technology review publication, we also have the same responsibility to our readers.

An additional responsibility to our readers would be to insure that we do not offend them. It is safe to say there there are very few areas of human existence more potentially offensive than the expression of sexuality. With this in mind we implore anyone who might find themselves offended on any level by the potential of such a device, a review of it, or pictures of content from it, to simply do the wise thing and refrain from reading this review.

To avoid major despotic wrath, regardless of our own personal take on the issue, we will do our best to refrain from using any video or imagery containing full frontal nudity or individuals engaging in sexual acts. Our purpose here is primarily to evaluate the execution of the product, moreso than its actual content. Also to protect ourselves legally, we are posting a link to our legal disclaimer at the header and footer of every page. Per our Terms Of Use, utilizing our website in any capacity implicitly demands your agreement to our legal disclaimer. We are simply restating this requirement implicitly here.

Now that we've got all the messy stuff out of the way, lets take a look at the hardware that arrived at the beginning of the month, before we move on to how it all works.
