When looking at the Noctua NH-U12F, one must look at what Noctua is trying to accomplish with this setup. Noctua earned their rep amongst enthusiast for a reason. They have generally specialized in silent cooling methods. Everything from the included fan to the mounting methods really works to keep this cooler from producing noise. However, if silence is not required, the implementation of additional louder but faster fans can bridge the performance gap. This flexibility opens this cooler to a broader audience. High-end performance seekers can appreciate this cooler as well as those that like the calm of silence. Noctua has found a balance that can cater to all with out breaking the bank.

Analyzing the pure performance aspects of the cooler produces a luke-warm result and it falls into the middle of many other high-end setups. The difference is in the engineering. When weighing the performance versus the noise production, the NH-U12F and NC-U6 really shine.
