Being the fast people we are here at FastSilicon.com, we of course decided to go with the performance fan. We chose the Delta “FFB0812SHE” for testing. Although this fan may not be the fastest option available, it screams at 48.5 dBA (we must draw the line somewhere folks). This fan is able to pump out 68.51 CFM @ 4900 RPM, not too shabby by any means. Installing this monster 80x80x38mm went without a hitch (it also looks really cool too). We decided to use Artic Silver 3 for maximum heat transfer performance.

We gained the full load temp by running Prime 95 for 60 minutes with other various apps running in the background. The system was extremely stressed but still able to function. Our computer room was slightly warm and the side panel was not on the test system. Considering the above mentioned harsh conditions the temp looks great. The temp reading came directly from the Gigabyte motherboard monitoring software and it should be somewhat accurate on a Pentium 4 system.

Conclusion

The MCX4000 is the ultimate Pentium 4 heatsink. Not only is the Swiftech MCX4000 a strong performer, it’s also a work of art. The quality and craftsmanship of this product is truly amazing. Although the installation process may prove to be difficult for some, it is well worth the time and effort. You have the option of using almost any 80mm-90mm fan you desire. With this flexibility and performance, the MCX4000 is the perfect alternative to a more expensive exotic cooling solution. The MCX4000 retails for around 47 US.
