Conclusion

For under $180.00USD, the Hanns-G HW191D with a contrast ratio of 700:1 and response time of 5ms is a steal. From gaming, to general office work, the Hanns-G HW191D performs. Although some might worry about not having a brand name monitor, most don't realize that there are only a few major LCD manufacturers. Quite a lot of the brand name units use third party LCD's and all you're really paying for is the name. Hanns-G has definitely proven itself worthy. At this time, the Hanns-G HW191D has sold out at many large online retailers. It can still be found on Amazon.com and a few smaller retailers.

I bought one of these and unless you have "Vista" it's a waste of money due to the fact that Hanns-G doesn't supply a driver for XP so you are stuck with no wide screen resolution settings and it's not a good sight

The monitor is fine with XP. "Mr" either has an ancient video card or a video card with ancient drivers that misinterpret EDID information. It's a common malady with some widescreens.

The solution is as I already said. Update your video card drivers, and/or use the driver inf package I linked to below, after spending 30 seconds in Google looking for it. The driver says "vista" in it's name, but it works in XP too.
um....not quite

Many widescreens have issues with OLDER DRIVERS. Update your video adaptors drivers. If you do need a monitor inf driver for the monitor for XP or Vista, it's here..

Amazing what 30 seconds and Google will do!

bought this as an interim monitor so didn't expect much, but happy with colors so far. pix are a bit fuzzy, and you can really only run on 1440*900. All other resolutions either don't work or result in crappy quality. No driver for XP64bit, but my graphics card control panel(nvidia) allows custom resolutions to be set. Again, only 1440*900 looks good, so for gaming I had to set 'do not scale' under the 'flat panel scaling' options in the nvidia control panel, which allowed some other resolutions to be shown with a black border.

this is quite possibly one of the best monitors ive ever owned. no problems with xp with geforce 6150le or vista with geforce 8800gt. i would buy this monitor all over again.
