This guide only shows you the basics of Watercooling. I did not write this with the intent that this is the only article you should read to become an expert on Watercooling because that’s simply not true. I cannot stress enough to post on forums and ask questions! Talk to people who have put systems together and find out how they did it. Make sure to look at many Watercooling systems and study how they fit into cases. Most of you will want to contain the Watercooling system inside a case. HardOCP Overclockers forum has a thread on just pictures of Watercooling systems. It is a great place to get ideas on how you’ll fit your system into a case.

Watercooling is the best practical solution for cooling your CPU. You can achieve great temps for under $100. I cringe when I see someone put down $300 for a prebuilt Watercooling setup. My favorite cases for Watercooling setups are the Lite-On FS020, Addtronics 7896a, and the Chenbro Genie SR104, but you can fit Watercooling into just about anything.

Just for fun I’ll price out a cheap Watercooling system:

Waterblock: DangerDen Maze 3 - $45

Radiator: Junkyard radiator - $0-$30

Pump: Via-Aqua 1300 - $23

Tubing: Silicon tubing - $10

Water Wetter and Distilled water - $10

Misc. Hardware: Hose clamps, plumber’s tape, zip ties - $10

I encourage you to try Watercooling if you’re sick of the loud noise of air-cooling or just desire more performance than air-cooling can offer. Watercooling can be made silent and at the same time deliver amazing temps. If you have any questions or comments about this article please post in our forum or contact us.
