Intel Price Roadmap analyzed PDF Print E-mail

intel_logo_nove1_velkyA good friend of mine (thanks dear!!) ran across this blurb on Guru3D. It seems our favorite site of all things talked about before they're supposed to be, HKEPC, has ran across some data relating to Intel's pricing roadmap for the 2nd half of 2007. I don't know about you, but the lot pricing of $266 on Q6600 Quad Core's sounds rather sweet. If you think the price war between AMD and Intel has been intense so far, get ready for more even cheaper goodies!!

Last week we already reported that Intel is planning a very aggressive strategy processor wise and .. money wise. I had a little more time to analyze the data as presented at HKEPC and placed it into a chart. Prepare to be amazed .. So we already knew that at the 22nd of April a new price policy will be enabled. The drop in prices will be significant and we'll see the introduction of 1333 MHz FSB based processors.

According to the data at HKEPC you'll notice that Quad core will become completely mainstream. Core 2 Quad Q600 (2,4 GHz) for example right now costs 851 USD while in April that price will be 530 USD and in the 2nd half of this year .. merely 266 USD. The 2,66 GHz C2Q which costs 999 USD right now will get a price tag of 530 USD and will clear it's space for a new 2,93 GHz model.

I wonder where this is going to leave AMD? I haven't heard anything from them lately except if it was about them losing money or dropping new processors....

I am a AMD boy actually and i didn't buy an dual intel last year but went for the amd 64 x2 4200 but with the current hardware requirements and the price/quality in mind i would now go for the INTEL 6750...

Sorry AMD, hope you guys come up with a plan, since INTEL's is rock solid

;D I've always thought Intel was the only way to go! AMD is nice for the gamers, but if you want a serious processor that has a lot more support I'd always bank on Intel. In fact I heard it rumoured that the Xeon Processor would be in Apple's machines, and from a very reliable industry source in the audio recording world I happen to know personally, and was he sheepish in admitting that to me, lol

Apple's been great for art and music, but I never bought into it for the simple fact that the platforms always changing, and pc is always compatible with what was out last year as far as programs.
