Security Experts Warn Of The Spread Of The Jigglypuff Trojan PDF Print E-mail

ani039Security firms Sopphos, HBEDV, and Symantec this morning released a high priority warning, regarding the discovery of the JigglyPuff Trojan.

Identified in the wild as "w32/A.Jiggly", these security firms warn of the dangers of it's spread. Appearing in emails often titled "For The Love Of God Dont Open This EMAIL!", it utilizes an existing XHTML parsing flaw in Outlook and Outlook Express to insert itself in %SystemRoot% as an SVCHOST process.

Though considered relatively harmless in application, JigglyPuff runs a tiny HTML server and parses jpg's and mpg's from the "My Documents" path onto a static webpage whilst broadcasting "Here's my free porn collection" in random IRC chatrooms.

Users are advised to remove images and videos of a sensitive nature from their "My Documents" path and block TCP and UDP connections via ports 6667-7000 through their routers and/or firewalls until patches to remove Jigglypuff are available.
