Here in the states, we tend to be a bit jaded about the rest of the world. Though it's been many years since I've been to Japan, it's clear Akihabara is just as much of a geeks paradise now as it ever was. Maybe even more so. You think American's exhibit all the traits of a high tech obsessed mobile culture? You ain't seen nothing till you go to Akihabara in Tokyo. The Inquirer reports...

Following on from our introduction to the madness that is Tokyo, we’ve been examining the infamous electronics and gadget side of the city.

Akihabara, known as Electric Town, is the main district for all your gaming, electronics, and anime needs. Any requirements you have for coin operated mechanised crane gift winning cabinets will also be satisfied, appearing every three or four shops, with around seven levels of different machines.

Often you’ll find other machines that allow you to win anything from the likes of a PS3 to an iPod. Pants are another possible prize.
