Conclusion

intel_core2_extremeThere have been many articles which cover the launch of Core2 a few months prior. The web is awash today in article after article written on the strengths and the very few weaknesses of Intel's new Core2 architecture, and it goes without saying that Intel has quite decisively regained the x86 performance crown from rival AMD. Over the remainder of the next 2 quarters, as Intel slowly weans itself from NetBurst CPUs and finishes its massive internal restructuring initiative, we'll see Core2's dominance become even more significant.

As the creators of the x86 architecture, it's nice to see that Intel has once again become the supplier of choice for those of us to whom reliability and performance are all-important. There has been an overwhelming tendency for the industry to polarize itself over the past several years, and we hope that even AMD fans can appreciate Intel for its contributions past and present to this industry we all know and love. The past several years are a fantastic illustration of what great benefit competition brings to the market and we're excited at the prospect of what's to come.
